About Amsterdam.

The capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam is widely known for its rich artistic heritage, unique atmosphere and elaborate canal system earning it the nickname “the Venice of the North”. Slender properties with grand facades line the streets, which count more than 1,500 bars and cafes and 1,281 bridges over the city’s 165 canals, contributing to Amsterdam’s laid-back feel and idiosyncratic beauty.

There are over a million bicycles in the city, outnumbering its 821,000 residents. Tourists can hire bikes or ride “backie” to traverse the city’s 400km of cycle paths, paying homage to the Dutch Masters at the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, perusing the city’s 38 markets – of which the floating flower market is a highlight – or to visit Anne Frank’s house.

Amsterdam is home to a large international crowd, so evidently there’s plenty to convince visitors to stay for a long time.
